SUMMARY:The Great Iceland Trek for Pendleside Hospice
DESCRIPTION:Discover active volcanoes and vast lava fields\, bubbling mud pools\, hot springs and more whilst raising much needed funds in aid of Pendleside Hospice!\nWe will be hiking to Iceland’s youngest volcano\, Gelgingaldir and neighbouring Fagradaslsfjall before exploring the ethereal peaks of the Mount Hengill heritage site – scaling the impressive Vörðuskeggi Peak with spectacular views over Lake Þingvellir\, and Eyjafjallajökull and the distant Westman Islands. Our adventures will also see us trek along the fault lines between Europe and America. \nDon’t forget to keep your eyes to the skies while you are there and you might be lucky enough to experience Lady Aurora herself! \nThis trek is graded moderate to challenging. You will be trekking long distances over varying terrain over consecutive days. SUMMARY:The Great Pendleside Trek 2024
DESCRIPTION:Following last year’s success\, we’re very excited to bring back ‘The Great Pendleside Trek!\nThe circular 35 mile endurance event will take place on Saturday 7th September starting and finishing at Pendleside Hospice. \nThe Great Pendleside Trek will take in some of Burnley and Pendle’s beautiful countryside\, including Pendle Hill and part of the Pendle Way. Participants can choose to run or walk the route. Walkers will set off at 6am and runners will set off at 8am. If you intend to run the route or part of the route\, you must set off at 8am. All participants are required to finish no later than 9pm. \nParticipants have the option to complete the full 35 mile route or finish at either Barley (13 mile) or Laneshawbridge (21 mile) aid stations. The 6 aid stations will be positioned at various points along the route approximately every 5-7 miles (Sabden\, Barley\, Colne\, Wycoller\, Thursden Valley and Worsthorne). All participants must check in at each point with staff/volunteers on the day at each aid station. \nPlease note\, participants will need to arrange their own transport to the start point (Pendleside Hospice- limited parking on site available) and from their chosen end point. \nThe Great Pendleside Trek is not a race and therefore will not be timed. SUMMARY:Cross Bay Walk 2024
DESCRIPTION:Support Pendleside Hospice by taking part in the Cross Bay Walk. Walkers will be able to experience the thrill of tackling one of the region’s most beautiful walks\, whilst raising money to support people across Burnley and Pendle when they need it the most. \nRegistration costs £15 for adults\, £10 for children and £5 for dogs. This will include a free t-shirt for adults and children and a free bandana for your dogs. \nJoin with your family\, friends\, or even on your own – everyone is welcome! The walk will start promptly at 10.30am\, but we ask that walkers ‘check in’ with staff from 9.30am. \nThe walk is from Arnside to Kent’s Bank railway station and is around 8 miles long. Adults must be prepared to carry children (and dogs!) when they are tired and when water may be too deep for them to cross. The terrain is unsuitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. DESCRIPTION:Prepare for a truly unique and exhilarating experience! Soar over Penrhyn Slate Quarry where you could travel at speeds of over 100mph while you take in the breath-taking views and feel the freedom of flight over 1\,555 metres. \nTHIS EVENT IS NOW FULLY BOOKED \nZip World is located near Bethesda in North Wales and is home to Velocity 2\, the fastest zip line in the world and the longest in Europe. Before taking on Velocity 2 you will zip down the little zipper to prepare yourself for the big flight! For more information visit Zip World. \nOnly £115 per person- includes Velocity 2 and the little zipper zip lines\, return coach (8.30am from Pendleside Hospice\, Burnley – Bethesda\, Wales) and t-shirt. We expect to return to Pendleside no later than 6.15pm. \nAnyone aged 17 years or younger needs to take part with a registered adult aged 18 years or older. You must be min 4ft / max 7ft and weigh between 30-120kg. \nParticipants are encouraged to raise a minimum of £200 sponsorship per person in aid of Pendleside Hospice. SUMMARY:Sunrise to Sunset - Summer Walking Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Pendleside Hospice is teaming up with Burnley Leisure & Culture to present the Sunrise to Sunset Summer Walking Challenge on Wednesday 19th June.\nWe’ll be walking around Barden Athletics Track from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday 19th June to raise money and awareness for Pendleside Hospice as well as Burnley Leisure & Culture\, in partnership with Six Connections! \nWhy don’t you join us by taking on this incredible challenge? You can take part by walking from sunrise to sunset\, or you can come along and support a walker for a portion of the day. \nTo sign up for this event in aid of the hospice\, please email Leah Hooper at leah.hooper@pendleside.org.uk in order to receive your sponsorship pack and be officially registered. Sponsorship packs include sponsorship forms and fundraising support\, a running vest or t-shirt\, supporter bang sticks and a Pendleside snood. \nOnce registered\, another great way to raise sponsorship is to set up a Just Giving page. Using Just Giving is an easy way to gain donations from your supporters without having to handle any cash or paperwork. Donors can also claim 25% in gift aid back from the government\, meaning more money for the hospice. This year\, Pendleside’s annual running costs are £5.5 million which means every penny counts. DESCRIPTION:Pendle Panthers & Cycle Sport Pendle are proud to present the Mountain Bike Challenge in aid of Pendleside Hospice. \nJoin one of a series of mountain bike routes\, tackling the bridleways in and around Pendle\, taking in some beautiful villages and scenery.
